I got this at the library to get a better understanding of how “XP Mode” offered in Win 7 Pro +higher would enhance compatibility with older legacy programs…a high priority with users migrating from XP…in fact, lack of compatibility with legacy programs was a main reason Vista failed. Unfortunately there’s nothing about XP mode in this book…no reference in the index. Nor could I find an index reference to compatibility with legacy programs.
I just returned a laptop because it’s windows 7 home premium didn’t offer XP mode because compatibility with older programs is my top priority..and that of most users IMO. The omission of this topic renders this book nearly useless.

For a thick book, it’s a bit thin on usefullness. I suspect it was written before Windows 7 was available on the shelves. Maybe in 6 months a better “Dummies” version will come out.

now this might sound silly, I even like the fact that the book Windows7 is rather small and yet stiff so its easy to hold and read.I like that for each written page there is also a picture in color telling you what you will see.
it is so well explained that one does not get lost. after reading the book Windows 7 I went out and bought a new computer that has Windows 7 and love it,yes do buy the book, its great

Not only do Dummies for Windows 7 keep a sense of humor, but offers great help. I would recommend any of that series of books. If you have never had such books, you should try one pertinent to you. Amazon gives great service all the time.
